Overview

If you have just a day to spare and want an authentic Tanzanian safari experience, the Tarangire National Park Day Trip is the perfect choice. Known as the “Home of Elephants”, Tarangire boasts the largest elephant population in Tanzania and is renowned for its ancient baobab trees, stunning scenery, and abundant wildlife.

Itinerary Overview

Early Morning: Departure from Arusha or Moshi

Your day starts early as we pick you up from your hotel in Arusha (or Moshi upon request) around 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Tanzanian countryside to Tarangire National Park, which takes about 2.5 hours from Arusha.

Mid-Morning: Enter Tarangire National Park

After registration at the gate, begin your morning game drive. Your expert guide will take you through the park’s best spots to maximize your wildlife viewing experience. Expect to see elephant families, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, and possibly predators like lions and leopards.

Spend the afternoon spotting lions, cheetahs, elephants, and — if your timing is right — herds of wildebeest and zebras on the move.

Enjoy a full-day game drive with picnic lunch inside the park, then head to your lodge near the park for dinner and overnight stay.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the scenic spots inside the crater before ascending to the rim and returning to your lodge in Karatu for the night.

Visit Ngurdoto Crater Viewpoint, and end the day with a visit to Tululusia Waterfall — a hidden gem in the forest.

Highlights: Giraffes on foot, birds, waterfalls, crater views, bushwalk

Lunch: Picnic with a View

Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch at a scenic spot inside the park while surrounded by nature and wildlife.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush or return to camp for a hot meal before heading back out for an afternoon game drive.

After your safari, drive to your lodge in Karatu for a relaxed evening.

Return to Arusha in the afternoon for your onward flight or next safari destination.

Afternoon: Continue Game Drive & Return

After lunch, continue your game drive for more sightings before departing the park in the late afternoon. Arrive back in Arusha or Moshi in the evening.
